How to Setup VNC on Mac OS X

How to Setup VNC on Mac OS X. VNC (Virtual Network Computing) is a server and client application that allows a user to remotely log in to another computer and share their desktop. Keyboard input and mouse commands are sent to the remote computer from the client to the computer running the VNC server. VNC can be used to connect from one operating system to another and is useful for remotely administering another computer.

Steps

  1. If you need to set up a VNC server on your OS X machine there is a freely available option that also include a VNC client: Vine Server (OSXVNC)
  2. If you are just interested in connecting to an existing VNC server, you can try either installing one of the packages that include both a server and client program, or you can try the VNCViewer for Mac OS X.
