There are lots of things we can do to help us get fit, get healthy and live a better, happier life. If you are not happy with your body your not happy with your self and your self confidence slides. When you feel good about yourself it shows. You look good. You look happy, positive and confident. This triggers a positive response from others but of course it can go the other way too. Getting fit is a great way to feel better about yourself and it's not always as difficult as you may think. Here are 7 things you can do to help boost your metabolism and get fit:

Steps

  1. Eating small meals every 2-3 waking hours will increase your metabolism and reduce fat storage. Make sure that these are healthy meals containing balanced amounts of protein, carbohydrates and fat.
  2. Give up soft drinks. It's estimated the most people drink an average of 2 regular soft drinks daily. That totals 300 calories. If you add those 300 calories up over a years time it results in a weight gain of over 30 pounds. If you give up soft drinks you could lose over 30 pounds.
  3. Set definite goals for yourself. If your goal is to live 10 pounds and 5 inches off your waist write it down. Be very specific. Don't set vague goals because in most cases people don't follow through. A personal trainer can help you do this or you can do it on your own if you are strict with it. Put your goals on your refrigerator and snack cabinet to remind you of what you want to achieve before you have a set back.
  4. Eat a small meal slowly then wait 15 to 20 minutes before deciding if you need more food. This gives your brain time to process your meal. Some people over eat without even realizing it because it your brain doesn't register "full" instantly. In most cases you will feel just as full after a small meal as you do with a large meal.
  5. Drink 8 ounces of water before every meal. Doing this will prevent over eating because it will partially fill you up.
  6. One of the best ways to burn excess fat it to walk or jog. You could do this for as little as 15 minutes a day and still burn a decent amount of calories. If you can do walk or jog first thing in the morning. Doing it in the morning is more effective because your body is depleted of calories and has to pull energy from fat stores.
  7. Are you bored with your fitness/exercise routine? The key to getting fit and staying in shape is to give your body new challenges. Change up
