How to Clean Your Computer System

How to Clean Your Computer System. This will show you how to clean up your Windows based PC. With these steps, you'll "clean up" your system and help it operate better.

Steps

  1. Do a Windows Update Regularly. This will be on your Start Menu. If it isn't, then click on "All Programs", then "Accessories", then "System Tools". This will take you to the proper page. Alternatively, try windowsupdate.microsoft.com (not necessary with Vista). It is very important that you get all available security updates. Other updates may less critical, but are still recommended.
  2. Try to Get rid of cookies. These are the little crumbs that are left behind on your computer after you visit a website. Click on Start > Control Panel > Internet Options. The second row down will say Delete Cookies, click on that. Click on Delete Temporary file; when the little box comes up that says "delete offline," you don't have to click on that. Click on Delete temporary Files.
  3. Then, you have to Complete Disk Cleanup. After clicking on "Start", move your cursor on "All Programs", then up to "Accessories", then "System Tools". Click on "Disk Cleanup" from the list that appears. Click the "More Options" tab at the top of the page, and select all three of the following: "Windows Components," "Installed Programs," and "System Restore". Clean up all three by clicking on their respective tabs. You may want to delete all but your most recent system restore point as you probably don't need the others.
  4. Defragment your computer. Defragmenting your computer moves all your files to where they are supposed to be. You may want tp download an independent defragmenter (e.g. Defraggler by Piriform). It is small, concise, powerful, and much quicker than the one distributed with Windows.
  5. Install anti-virus software. Kaspersky, AVG, Bitdefender, Antivir, and Avast are free for personal use.
  6. Then after all that, you should Go to My Computer. then go to tools at the top. then you have to go to Folder Options, find View, then check the box "Show Hidden Files and Folders" then you have to go to Local Disk, Documents & Settings, Your Account, and if you want you can delete everything in: Local Settings History delete everything there just on local settings history. you can also delete everything in temporary internet files.
    • You should Remove unwanted programs by going to start, control panel, add or remove programs, then remove unwanted programs. programs that you think are not important.
    • If you havn't cleant up your PC for a long time, you may need to clean your PC Registry with a System cleaner and Registry repair software.
  7. Tips

    • If you use Norton Antivirus, then set it to scan your computer as often as possible. (daily is best) To do this, click "scan for viruses" then click the button that has a clock on next to "scan my computer". This will take you to the scheduling window. It is best to schedule this when you are not using the computer, like when you're asleep, as it can take quite a few hours to finish, especially if you have a larger computer. This will cause it to detect many viruses, but also delete a lot a of spyware and adware, too.

    Warnings

    • Not all cookies are worthless. Some Web-sites use cookies as a way of customizing your display for subsequent visits. For example, a weather website may ask you to enter your zip code to display your local weather. It then puts a very small "cookie" file containing that info on you hard drive. Days later, when you re-visit that Web-site, the site looks for its cookie on your drive and displays the weather in your area. This way, you don’t have to enter your location each time. Deleting all cookies will require you to re-enter the information each time.
    • Deleting the wrong files may ruin your computer. Make sure when you are looking for old files that you don't want anymore, that these files you absolutely don't need, and have nothing to do with the way the system runs itself.

How to Communicate Effectively

How to Communicate Effectively. Communication makes the world go round. On a smaller level, communication, or being able to communicate effectively, is what gets you through each day, in both your career and personal life. Here's how to make sure someone understands what you say.

Steps

  1. Clarify ideas in your mind before you attempt to communicate them.
  2. Organize your thoughts.
  3. Think clearly about what you are trying to get across. Do not stray from that topic. Stick to the issue you have chosen to address.
  4. Be clear about the purpose of the communication. For example, its purpose could be to inform others, to obtain information or to initiate action. It could be as simple as telling a cab driver where you are going, or as complicated as explaining to your significant other why you are leaving him or her.
  5. Articulate your words. Do not mumble. Look into the other person's eyes if possible.
  6. Have the other person repeat what you have said, in his or her own words.
  7. Thank the person for his or her time, and for listening.

How to Build Self Confidence

How to Build Self Confidence. If you are among those who lack confidence, then building self confidence should be your goal. Self confidence is very important and necessary if you want to survive in today's society. Self confidence is needed in every field whether you are a sportsperson or a student. Building self confidence is necessary for both personality development as well as self-development. As said by a great personality "If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started". It is very easy to lose confidence but very hard to build self-confidence. Everyone wants to be successful in their life which is possible only if they have faith in themselves.

Steps

  1. Focus on plus points. Try not to bring negative thoughts in your mind. Do not hanker for what is not possible. Try to pay more attention towards your plus points. Everyone has some or the other weakness but it should not stop them from moving ahead. Just do not keep thinking about that weakness, it will lower your self confidence. Make a list of things that you are good at and try to focus more on them. Try to set goals for yourself. Do not set goals that cannot be achieved. Step by step you will win the race, do not try to be hasty. It is seen that many have the habit of comparing themselves with others which results in dissatisfaction. Do not compare yourself with others as everyone is different and they may not have the talents that you possess. So set goals for yourself and try to achieve them. You should try to compete with yourself, this will let you increase your limit and help you to move forward in life.
  2. Change your posture and always smile. The confidence of a person can be seen from the way a person walks and talks, in short it is visible from one's posture. A person who lacks self confidence looks depressed and has a sad expression on the face. Change your posture and try to sit straight. While talking to anyone maintain eye contact. Try to keep a bright smile on your face always. Some of you may think how one can change their confidence just by changing the posture. For all of you who think like that let me tell you that just by changing your posture you will be changing your emotional state. In a study conducted by researchers it is seen that a smile can give you a positive feeling. It is seen while smiling you do not feel depressed.
  3. Appreciate others. Appreciating others is another way of building self confidence. By appreciating others and remembering all the good things that have happened to you, you will be improving your outlook. Always try to start your day by being grateful for whatever you have and you will be glad to see that your whole day will be great.
